Pedophile targeted 2,000 victims through blackmail scam

The pedophile who blackmailed and manipulated nearly 2,000 victims has admitted to 158 charges, in an ”industrial-scale” offending.

After a deep investigation, according to the National Crime Agency (NCA), 26 year old Abdul Elahi who had admitted many charges, is now part of the highest number of offences that a person has pleaded guilty to.

Although Elahi had admitted to most of the offences, he was pleaded guilty in the last allegations at Birmingham in May, whereas his sentence is scheduled for another date.

On Monday, the reporting restrictions were eased which is why the pleas for him could be reported on that very day only. His offending had manipulating and blackmailing victims into sending him pictures and videos of themselves, siblings or children. He used those pictures and videos to sell online, said NCA in a statement after Elahi’s charges.

Apart from this, Elahi also held online classes on the Telegram app, in which he taught the other abusers how to manipulate and blackmail victims and acquire their pictures.

He also pretended to be a rich businessman on ”sugar daddy” websites. He picked out victims who were too young or in debt, by making them send him either fully naked or revealing pictures of themselves.

He would promise them huge payment for the pictures and he also sent fake screenshots of money in order to convince his victims.

According to the NCA, they came across 196 victims in the UK only, with over 600 victims online too. Elahi tried to get in touch with 1,367 women in the US, with victims in other countries too such as Canada, Australia or New Zealand.

Once Elahi would get the pictures, he categorized them into box sets, which he put in cloud storage sites. After that, he would sell collections of them through Telegram by gaining an amount of over £25,000.

His offences included 79 total victims, ranging from children up to adults in the span of January 2017 until August 2020.
