A suspect died while six others were arrested during shootings near Amsterdam

A suspect has died after reportedly being part of an attempted robbery of a vehicle that transported goods near Amsterdam.

According to officials, a suspect has died whereas 6 other people were arrested by the police after their attempt to rob a vehicle that was transporting valuable goods.

The roads near Amsterdam were accompanied by many Dutch police officers who ran after the suspects.

As the authorities have stated, the robbers were equipped with weapons and were firing shots with the police making this a quite uncommon chase in the Netherlands.

”It is a miracle nobody else was injured.” said Rob van der Veen, one of the Amsterdam police spokesman. Apart from the one suspect, no one else was hurt.

The suspects were dressed in all black, they were armed and they reportedly fired shots around 2:15 p.m in a direction of a vehicle which was transporting valuable goods. All of this has presumably happened nearby a metals business near Amsterdam.

The police stated that the suspects ran away in two vehicles, headed to the village of Broek which is around 10 kilometers north of Amsterdam. The police officers went after them, with armored vests.

As the local media reported, the vehicles had diamonds or gold with an estimated worth of around €50 million.

Following the situation, witnesses immediately started sharing pictures of helicopters hovering as well as pictures of the Dutch police and the robbers firing shots at each other.
