According to a rank by the US News, the Netherlands is ranked as the 10th best country in the world, one number above the last year’s published rank.
This is the 6th year that the US News publishes the list for the best countries. This is also the 6th year in a row that the Netherlands is part of the top 11 countries.
The rankings of the US News were based on international insight, with 78 countries participating in the study and 76 attributes. There were 20,000 global responses to the study, each score being based on those answers.
Moreover, these 76 different attributes were divided into 10 subcategories. In 2021, ‘Citizenship’ as an attribute was eliminated, whereas this year, two new categories were included – one for the pandemic, the other for global warming.
In 2020, the Netherlands was ranked 9th and New Zealand was ranked 11th, this year however, New Zealand was ranked 7th which made the Netherlands switch its place.
The Netherlands’ score is quite high actually, with 88.3 out of 100 this year. Last year, the Netherlands also had a great score in other categories as well, such as Quality of Life – with 88.3 points, and Social Purpose – with 93.1 points. But in other categories like Movers, the country scored rather badly, with a 27.4, in Power it had 17.2, whereas in Heritage it scored 34.3.
