With the new less restrictive measures taken and the season of spring, one might think that the pandemic is close to an end. However, countries are battling the virus non-stop, and the situation is not getting much better.
The hospitals are on the verge of collapsing in India. Each day, there are around 400,000 cases a day, making the situation very critical.
According to the latest wave of cases, South Asia appears to be the epicenter of Covid-19. Additionally, over 3.8 million cases from India, Nepal, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Bhutan and Maldives were reported, with more than 270,000 deaths since May.
But, over 3 million deaths have been reported around the world. There have been many healthcare workers among these deaths, who lost their lives while taking care of people in need.
Apart from this, the deaths have also impacted economy. For many people, they barely get to have access to food, water, medical care, and other essentials as well.
Vaccines – although they are a source of optimism, they are insufficient to end the pandemic now. Despite the fact that vaccines are being received by countries, the percentage shows that only 7% of the entire worldwide population has taken a dose of vaccine which is far below the approximate 60-70% that is needed in order to get enough immunity.
