The Netherlands in 9th place for EU Covid vaccines

Out of 30 countries in the European Union, Netherlands was in 9th place for the Covid vaccines. About 4.7 million adults in Netherlands have taken the vaccine which is equivalent to 33.3%.

According to European Centre for Disease Prevention and Control, The Netherlands’ vaccination was considered to be more successful than Estonia and Austria because European Union and European Economic Area’s average is 31.3%.

However, for fully vaccinated adults, the Netherlands was in a tie with Germany in the 22nd place. This means that around 1.4 million adults were fully vaccinated which is equivalent to 9.7%, whereas EU/EEA’s average is 11.8%.

According to public health agency RIVM, on Thursday, around 6,102,271 vaccines were delivered in the Netherlands which was more than the previous day, more than 120,595 vaccines.

Although Dutch authorities stated for the second time that more than 120,000 vaccines were given in a day, it seems that the Netherlands’ target of estimated vaccines could be a fail this week. The Netherlands’ target of the week was 815,056 vaccines, around 4%.

According to GGD municipal health service, they were trying to build up their capacity to vaccinate more than 2 million people weekly, at the same time, around 60 hospitals began arrangements to contribute with another million. The capacity depends on how many vaccines come in the Netherlands, the minimum being 6.7 million and this is estimated to happen until June.
