Coronavirus antibodies are now found in more than 30% of blood donors

According to blood donation company Sanquin, there has been an increase of percentage from 21% up to 32% in regard to blood donors which have coronavirus antibodies.

This marks the highest surge since this blood company began keeping track of coronavirus antibodies which are found in blood donations.

Because of the vaccination initiative, the highest surge was found in more than 40% of the donors who were around the age of 61 to 70.

Sanquin further stated that apart from this, the antigens which are found in donors around the age of 18 to 30, are persistently being increased as well but only because of the constant virus cases.

The reason why women are more prone to having antibodies than men is because there are a lot more women who work in the healthcare section and they have been vaccinated as well.

Sanquin mentions that it’s necessary for at least 67% of people to have antibodies in their blood so that an amount of herd immunity is established.

As claimed by the government’s coronavirus dashboard, when vaccination first began in January and up until now, around 5.6 million vaccines have been applied.
