Erik ten Hag extends his contract at Ajax until 2023

After British media reported that Erik ten Hag was on Tottenham Hotspur’s shortlist as one of the most potential replacements for Jose Mourinho, Ajax Amsterdam club has confirmed on Friday that they extended Hag’s contract until June 2023.

I want to work on a successful and attractive Ajax, I know what I have here, and the people I work with, and also know what next step to take with the team. ” Ten Hag told the Ajax website. He also mentioned that he is happy there. 

Erik ten Hag has been coaching Ajax since January 2018, and now he has extended his contract until the summer of 2023. Ajax has achieved considerable success under his leadership, they reached the semi-finals of the Champions League, also won the KNVB and league in 2019. 

Marc Overmars, the director of Ajax, pointed out that Ten Hag received offers from other clubs outside the Netherlands, without naming the clubs. He also added that Erik sees what is possible with Ajax and he knows that there is still room for growth.
