845,000 homes need to be built in the Netherlands over the next 10 years

Based on the latest reports, 845,000 new houses need to be built in the Netherlands in the next 10 years in order to combat the housing shortage.

The Dutch need houses

The Ministry of the Interior has reported that the Netherlands is in need of 845,000 new homes if they plan on containing the deterioration of the current housing shortage. This statement points to the fact that the Netherlands is seriously lacking when it comes to providing homes and constructing houses. The reports state that the Netherlands is short of 331,000 houses. Despite the fact that 80,000 new houses were added to the market, they are still quite short on houses. For the long-term plan, which is 10 years, the Ministry has advised that action be taken for making 845,000 news homes but even in the current stats, we can see how the deprivation of housing facilities is apparent and disturbing.

It is a relief to see that these matters are being attended to as we see that a plan is being made to build 837,000 new homes. However, it is predicted that this will not be done to completion and only 70 percent of these homes will be built.

While the shortage of homes is the glaring factor in this situation, it must also be noted who the people affected by this shortage are. People who have average earning and people who buy houses for the first time are the people who have to face the issues generated by the shortage. There are little to no options they can acquire for a decent and affordable price.
