PlayStation to Introduce New Games on Thursday

Sony’s presentation, dubbed “The Future of Gaming” will take place Thursday at 10 p.m. and will be broadcast on YouTube and Twitch.

Sony will present its new games designed for PlayStation 5 on Thursday, a week after the originally scheduled date, moved so as not to distract public attention from last week’s anti-racism protests.

“We had to step aside so that essential voices could be heard in this historic and important period,” Sid Shuman, director of content communications for PlayStation, said in a statement on Monday.

Across the United States, tens of thousands of people took to the streets this weekend to protest racism and police violence, two weeks after the death of George Floyd, an African-American asphyxiated by a white police officer. in Minneapolis.

Sony’s presentation, dubbed “The Future of Gaming”, will take place on Thursday at 8:00 p.m. GMT (10 p.m. in Amsterdam) and will be broadcast on YouTube and Twitch (the platform for video game games in direct from Amazon). It should have taken place in Los Angeles, but the major conventions were all canceled due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

“The absence of a physical event has given us an opportunity to think differently about the best way to make you travel with us,” said Sid Shuman. The announcements of new titles specially designed for the PS5 should serve to arouse consumer appetite for the new console, whose release date is not yet known. Typically, the two rivals Sony and Microsoft (Xbox) release their latest generation consoles in November.
